I have been meaning to blog about this for the longest time but as usual, something comes up and this entry remains in my draft box forever. Today, I am going to tell you about my laundry system. It sounds really boring but hey, I decided that with apartments being so darn tiny these days, someone will be googling for ‘laundry system’ or ‘dry clothes system’ when renovating their home and hopefully, they’d find this entry useful. NOT BEING PAID TO SAY NICE THINGS, for the record. This is a personal review (we paid for the laundry system!) because I actually really like it.
Way back in 2008, I blogged about our then laundry system from Ezzi Living. The EZ High-Dry system served us well for the 5 years that we lived at our first home. Our current home does not have a laundry system in place as the previous tenant used a dryer. I personally find it very odd to use a dryer in our tropical country where the sun beats down mercilessly. Also, our current home is windy. Make that VERY VERY WINDY. In fact, on some days, it is so windy, it gives me a headache. The boy once quipped that he never thought there’d be a day where he’d be complaining of ‘too much wind’.
Anyway, yes, the laundry system. I decided to contact Ezzi Living again. The lovely Angeline came to our place promptly to do a site survey to recommend a product that would suit our needs. I told her about our ‘windy home’ and when she saw that we had ample space at our yard, she recommended the EZ Q6.
This is an automated system that uses a remote-controlled wall switch. Also, unlike our first system laundry system that pushes out, the EZ Bella simply goes up and down at the press of a button. It also comes with a light as well so you don’t need to turn on your kitchen/yard light if you are doing laundry at 3am 🙂
The Q6 holds up to 35 kg and comes with a 2-year warranty. The poles are made of stainless steel and are extendable on both ends from 1.3m to 2.1m for larger pieces of laundry such as bedsheets. It measures 480mm wide and the maximum height down is 1.27m
To be honest, I had my reservations about an automated system. The main concern was, of course, wear and tear leading to malfunction. What if the system gets stuck or in a worst case scenario, break down completely? As the system is mounted onto the false ceiling, I dread to imagine how repair works will be carried out. Angeline reassured me that so far, they hasn’t had many occasions where the system broke down so I guess we’d have to take her word for it.
I have to also add that Ezziliving contributes 3% of their sales proceeds to Causes for Animals from now till December 2015. A company that gives back to animal causes. MAJOR LOVE! During my chat with Angeline, we also ended up talking about dogs. She is a fellow dog lover and have adopted a couple of Singapore Specials. Read more about their efforts here.
Long story short, I signed on the dotted line and on the agreed day, the installation guys came by to fix up our laundry system. I was really pleased because for the past few months, we have been using a portable laundry rack on the balcony – ugh. They did light drilling onto the false ceiling and in about half an hour, our laundry system was in place. WOOT WOOT!
And here’s how it looks when it’s lowered.
We also purchased the clothes pin to hang smaller pieces of laundry such as socks, undies, etc. This is really useful when you have a child in the house and their clothes are tiny. The same accessory also holds 22 hangers.
This is a picture of a typical laundry load for us. Check out Elliott’s clothes on the clothes pin.
We have been using the Q6 laundry system for almost 2 months now and so far, it has served us very well. Importantly, it lowers to an adult’s height level so there is no need to stoop o stretch when doing laundry. A small but significant fact to take note when shopping for a laundry system!
So yes, miss ene and the boy (since the boy is the one doing the laundry these days) are very happy with the laundry system, hence this blog entry to share the good news. Go check out their Facebook page for more updates!
