During term time, we are usually rushing from one class to another and lunch is usually a harried affair at the school canteen. This changes whenever the school hols roll around because we now have the luxury of time to dine out! Woohoo!
Last week, a group of us decided to check out ‘Everything with Fries‘ at Joo Chiat Road.
We were a tad early, arriving at 11.45am (they open at noon). We peered through the shutters and one of their staff came by to inform us that they’d be open in 15 minutes. My colleagues asked if it’s ok if we sit down first (it was a tad hot standing in the five-foot way) and after a quick check, he came by and opened the shutters for us. Thumbs up for service!
I like the clean look of the restaurant – bare cement floor, white chairs and brown tables.
After a quick glance at the menu, here’s what we ordered for the day along with different types of fries:
There are two types of fries offering: shoestring (ala McDonalds) or straight cut, along with 5 different ‘flavours’: original, curry, salt & vinegar, sour cream & onion, garlic & herbs. I ordered the grilled pork chop with shoestring fries but I can’t remember what flavour I ordered – it was either the sour cream & onion or garlic & herbs. It was yummy though!
For dessert, we were told to order the nutella tart because it’s supposed to be really good.
And it was indeed very very good! All of us shared a slice (all 8 of us – haha!) because we knew that it’s going to be really rich and I’m glad we did. I have to say I ate most of it though. Tee hee hee. We added a scoop of vanilla ice-cream with it and it was to-die-for.
In fact, it was so good that I packed an additional slice to take home for the boy to try.
Check out the number of Nutella bottles on the shelf behind the dessert counter!
All of us left with satisfied tummies. Burp! They have a new branch at Holland Village so go check them out if you’re in the area.
